On 01/11/2022 at about 2156 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted and arrested Cory Uttke, age 55 of Ketchikan in the 300 Block of Front Street. Uttke had an outstanding No Bail Warrant for Failure to file 80 hours of Community Work Service as ordered in lieu of jail time. The original charges stem from MICS 5th Degree and MIW 5th Degree. Further investigation revealed that upon arrest Uttke was in possession of Methamphetamine and had a prior conviction for MICS 5th Degree in 2021. Uttke was remanded on his warrant and the new Felony charge of MICS 4th Degree with No Bail.

On 01/15/2022 at about 0107 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted a male who appeared to be hiding inside a vehicle in the 2500 Block of Tongass Avenue. The male was identified as Christopher Johnson, age 45 of Ketchikan who had six active outstanding warrants for his arrest. The warrants stem from the original charges of Fail to Stop at Direction of Peace Officer, DWLR, Reckless Driving, VCOR, Theft 4, and MICS 5th Degree. Johnson attempted to flee the area on foot and was located by AST hiding under a vehicle and ultimately arrested. Johnson was remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with bail set at $16,500. AST would like to thank Ketchikan Police Department and the Saxman VPSO for their assistance and fast response.

On 1/8/2022 at approximately 1635 hours, Alaska State Troopers Responded to a REDDI report near Mile 186 of the Glenn Highway. Investigation revealed 47yo Edward Wheeler, of Colorado, was impaired. Wheeler was placed under arrest and transported to Glennallen Post where he refused to provide a breath sample. Further investigation revealed Wheeler was a felon and on probation out of Colorado for a weapons offence. During the contact Wheeler had a loaded revolver between the driver’s seat and center console. Wheeler was charged with DUI and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test as well as Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 3rd degree and Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 4th Degree. After arraignment Mr. Wheeler was transported and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility with bail set at $100,000 Cash/Appearance and $4,000 Cash/Performance.

In early January 2022 44-year-old Fairbanks resident Caleb Bennet uploaded multiple videos to social media where he threatened the lives of law enforcement officers and a judge. An arrest warrant was granted by an Anchorage court on January 5, 2022, for Terroristic Threatening in the Second Degree. On January 11, 2022, at approximately 1230 hours, the Alaska State Troopers Fairbanks Criminal Suppression Unit and Northern Special Emergency Reaction Team located Bennet in a commercial vehicle in the Fairbanks area. Bennet was arrested without incident and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center on the arrest warrant. The Alaska State Troopers would like to thank DOT Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and the Fairbanks Area Narcotics Team for their assistance in the operation.

On 01/14/2022, at approximately 2106 hours, AST conducted a traffic stop for moving violations in Soldotna. Investigation revealed the operator, Sidney Morris, age 57 of Soldotna, had a revoked Alaska operators license, had no liability motor vehicle insurance, and was displaying registration plates not belonging to the vehicle. He had recent prior convictions for driving while license revoked. He was issued misdemeanor citations for driving while license revoked, fail to maintain insurance, and miss use of registration plates.
