On 05/26/2019 at about 0012 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a vehicle in the ditch (VID) at mile 12 of the North Tongass Highway. AST responded to the scene. Investigation revealed that the driver Daniel Roach, age 58 of Ketchikan was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Roach was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with bail set at $1,000. AST would like to thank the good Samaritans who stopped and contacted AST to report the VID.

On 05/24/2019 at about 1927 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted and arrested Jonathon Oaksmith, age 28 of Ketchikan in the 4200 block of Don King Road after AST observed Oaksmith sitting inside a vehicle. Oaksmith had an outstanding arrest warrant reference the original charge Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 3rd Degree and VCOR. Further Investigation revealed that Oaksmith was in possession of Methamphetamine, and Heroin with intent to sell. Drug paraphernalia associated with selling were seized from the vehicle. Non-Prescribed medication was also seized. Oaksmith was arrested and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center for two counts of MICS 3rd Degree, MICS 4th Degree, VCOR and his outstanding warrant. No Bail.

On 5-20-2019 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Richard Westrope, 24 of Oregon, for making a false statement on a 2019 resident, low income sport fishing license. This violation has set fine of $320 each and an optional court appearance in the First Judicial District Court in Ketchikan

On 5/30/2019 at 1441 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the vehicle being operated by an individual who had an active arrest warrant. The driver, 36 year old Hydaburg resident John Oneil was arrested on the outstanding warrant. Investigation also determined that Oneil's was operating the vehicle during the active revocation period of his Alaska drivers license. Oneil was remanded on the warrant and issued a summons for the charge of DWLR.

On 5/31/2019, a Prince of Wales resident reported receiving a call from an individual perpetrating to be from the DEA. The caller requested and received extensive personal information from the victim to include his Social Security number, date of birth, address, and banking information. The caller then requested $1500 sent via Western Union to Florida. The victim reported he had sent the money, albeit reluctantly the day prior to making the report to AST. While making the report to the Alaska State Troopers, the victim received another call requesting more funds being sent. The Alaska State Troopers encourage citizens to report all suspicious phone calls requesting money or personal information before providing any personal information or sending any funds.
