On 2/15/2019, Raymond Guthrie of Hydaburg reported that his residence was burglarized. Guthrie returned home from a trip to Anchorage and discovered his apartment had been ransacked and over $8000 in cash stolen. Besides the cash, Guthrie also reported a gold "Alaska" ring was stolen. The ring had a carving of a bear on the face and was reported to be a family heirloom. Anyone with information about the burglary/theft are encouraged to call the Prince of Wales State Troopers at 826-2918.

On 02/19/2019 at about 2131 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Caprice for an equipment violation in the 400 block of Jackson Street. Investigation revealed that the driver Cristina Willard, age 25 of Ketchikan was in violation of conditions of release set by the Ketchikan Courthouse by being in possession of drug paraphernalia on her person. The original charge was Assault 4 DV and Criminal Trespass 1. Willard was arrested and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with no bail. Willard was also issued traffic citations for Muffler Requirement and Fail to Show Proof of Insurance. The Alaska State Troopers would like to thank Ketchikan Police Department for their assistance with the investigation.

On 02/19/2019 at about 1917 hours, the Alaska State Troopers contacted and arrested Daniel Mann, age 28 of Ketchikan on an outstanding $20,000 arrest warrant stemming for the original charges of PTRP PACE Program. Mann was located hiding inside a closet at a residence in the 800 Block of Buren Street. Further investigation revealed that Mann was in violation of current conditions of release set by the Ketchikan Courthouse by being at the residence reference the original charges of PTRP, Assault in the 4th Degree, and Unlawful Contact in the 1st Degree. Mann was remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with no bail. The Alaska State Troopers would like to thank Ketchikan Police Department for their fast response and assistance with the investigation.

On 1/17/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island were patrolling the Klawock Inlet when they located a personal use Dungeness crab pot with improper buoy markings. AWT pulled the gear and discovered that the required escape mechanism was tied shut with lead-line. Investigation revealed that the pot was being fished by Ryan Fitzgerald, age 28 of Craig. Fitzgerald was issued Alaska Uniform Citations for Improper Buoy Markings and Escape Mechanism Violations.

Aza was cited after he was observed fishing for Steelhead with two hooks in the single hook only waters of Ketchikan Creek. Total bail is set at $120.00 in the Ketchikan District Court.

On February 23, 2019 at approximately 1530 hrs, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of N. Tongass and Sunset. The driver was identified as 33 year old, William Jordan of Ketchikan. Jordan was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for his arrest for Violating his Conditions of Release. Jordan was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center where he was held without bail, pending his arraignment.

On February 23, 2019, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island went to a residence in South Thorne Bay in an attempt to locate Robert McLaughlin IV, who had an active warrant for his arrest. Troopers located McLaughlin hiding outside the residence and he was arrested. McLaughlin was transported to the Craig Jail where he was remanded on the warrant for Fail to Appear, with the original charge of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance II and Misconduct Involving a Weapon V. Bail is set at $1500.00.

On 02/22/2019 at about 2335 hours, the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a black Subaru near mile 5 of the North Tongass Highway for several equipment violations and a moving violation. Investigation revealed that the driver, Thomas Widmyer, age 45 of Ketchikan was in possession of baggies of Heroin on his person and hidden inside the vehicle. Widmyer was arrested for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with No Bail. Widmyer was also issued traffic citations for DWLR, Failure to Show Proof of Insurance, and Expired Registration.
