On 1/3/17 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Prince of Wales Island, served a summons to court on Donald Yates, age 39 of Klawock, charging him with Unlawful Sale of Subsistence Fish, False Information on a Commercial Fish Ticket, Failure to Mark Subsistence Fish and Subsistence Fishing in a Closed Area. This investigation stemmed from citizen complaints in Klawock and Craig that Yates was abusing the subsistence resource by selling salmon he caught with subsistence gear in the mouth of the Klawock River in the late summer of 2016. Yates’ court appearance is 1/11/17 at the District Court of Prince of Wales.

On 1/6/17 at approximately 2125 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales Island conducted a traffic stop on a 1989 Chevrolet van for speeding. Troopers identified the driver of the vehicle as Curtis Looper, age 26 of Klawock. Investigation revealed that Looper was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and with a revoked driver’s license. Looper was also currently on conditions of release from an earlier DUI arrest. Looper was placed under arrest for DUI and issued minor offense AUC’s for the DWLR and VCOR charges. Looper was transported to the Craig Jail facility where he was remanded into their custody.

On 1/6/17 at approximately 2030 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales Island contacted Timothy Demmert, age 33 of Sitka, while on patrol in the community of Klawock. Investigation revealed that Demmert had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Demmert was placed under arrest and transported to the Craig jail facility where he was remanded into their custody.

On 1/5/17 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Prince of Wales Post, cited Desi Mangini, age 29 of WA, for delivering an over-limit of commercial geoducks on 12/8/2016. Arraignment for this violation is 1/18/17 in District Court at Prince of Wales.

AK16042015Type: Failure to Remove Herring Pound Equipment

On 1/4/17 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Prince of Wales Post, cited Donald Durgan, age 64 of Craig, for failing to remove equipment from the Klawock herring pound grounds after the 2016 herring season. Arraignment for this minor offense is 1/31/17 in District Court at Prince of Wales.
