On 4/6/22, at approximately 0102 hours, Alaska State Troopers, Palmer Post, received a request for a welfare check in the area of Pioneer Peak Drive. While conducting the welfare check, troopers contacted Thomas Brawford, age 55 of Wasilla, in the area. Investigation revealed Brawford was in possession of both heroin and methamphetamine, and had prior convictions for misconduct involving a controlled substance (MICS). Brawford was arrested for two counts of MICS in the 4th Degree, a class "C" felony. Brawford was transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where he was held without bail pending an arraignment.

On 04/09/2022 at about 0825 hours Alaska State Troopers (AST) received a report of animal neglect at Loving Companions Animal Rescue Center in North Pole. AST and Alaska Wildlife Troopers (AWT) responded to the business with assistance from Fairbanks North Star Borough’s (FNSB) Animal Control. AWT seized a wild Alaskan Hare and released it back into the wild. No arrests have been made and no citations have been issued. The investigation is ongoing.

On 4/13/2021 at 2303 hours, Fairbanks Patrol was informed of a severe DV Assault in North Pole. Investigation revealed that Erich Douglas Klinger, 31 of North Pole had broken his wife’s nose, pointed a gun at her, threatened to kill her, and kill any Trooper that showed up on scene to arrest him. Klinger has a long history of domestic assault and violating protective orders from his wife. During the attempted arrest of Klinger, he barricaded himself in the residence and it was determined not to force a confrontation with AST. On 4/14/21 at 0700 hours, Fairbanks Criminal Suppression Unit (F-CSU) was informed of the call and was able to locate Klinger through active surveillance. Fairbanks CSU, Fairbanks Patrol, Fairbanks FLS, Fairbanks AWT, Fairbanks ABI and North Pole PD, responded to Badger Gas where Klinger was currently working and taken into custody without incident. Further, the handgun used in the assault on Klinger’s wife, was located in his work truck and seized. Klinger confessed to the assaults on his wife and threatening Troopers. Klinger was transported and remanded to FCC.
