Sources say this is a temporary fix as the problems with the road are so bad, major reconstruction will have to be made in the future.
SECON will begin construction of an asphalt overlay on South Tongass Highway between the Coast Guard Base and Saxman on Friday May 15th. Expect one lane traffic with shifting lane changes from 7am to 7pm daily until construction is complete.
Vehicles parking in a no parking zone will be towed.
This project will be ongoing for approximately one week.
The safety of our workers and the public is our main concern, so please watch for No Parking notices and changes in traffic patterns.
