You may be wondering why there are reports from October, that's because sometimes the Troopers take awhile to investigate and update their system.

Type: No Crewmember License / Employ Unlicensed Crewmember

On 10/1/18, Alaska Wildlife Troopers Prince of Wales Post contacted the FV Ostrich while commercial fishing for sea cucumbers. Crewmember Aaron Widmyer, 26 of Juneau, was cited for not having a crewmember’s license. The captain of the vessel, Joshua Wodyga, 36 of Ketchikan, was also issued a citation for employing a unlicensed crewmember. Both have an optional appearance in the Prince of Wales District Court with bail set at $260 each.

On 10/1/18, Alaska Wildlife Troopers Prince of Wales Post contacted the FV Ko’olina while commercial fishing for sea cucumbers. The vessel did not display its ADF&G number plate as required. The captain of the vessel, James Parrott, 38 of Ketchikan, was issued a citation with bail set at $110 with an optional appearance in the Prince of Wales District Court.

On 10/1/18, Alaska Wildlife Troopers Prince of Wales Post contacted the FV Dauntless while commercial fishing for sea cucumbers. The vessel was not registered with ADF&G as a miscellaneous dive fishing vessel. The captain of the vessel, Ryan Asa, 32 of Cordova, was issued a citation with a mandatory appearance in the Prince of Wales District Court.

Type: Death Investigation

On 11-06-2018 at about 1845 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers were notified of a death in Thorne Bay. Initial investigation by Troopers revealed Jaxon Wooten, 2 of Thorne Bay, was discovered unresponsive by family. Lifesaving measures were performed unsuccessfully for over an hour at which time the child was declared deceased. Wooten’s body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.

On 11/9/18, Alaska Wildlife Troopers Prince of Wales Post issued a citation to Justin E Fitch, 23 of Craig, for failing to salvage all edible meat of two Sitka Blacktail deer. He has a mandatory appearance in the Prince of Wales District Court.
