On August 27, 2018 at about 9:11AM, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales island conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle. The driver was identified as 36 year old Thorne Bay resident Robert McLaughlin. The investigation resulted in a large amount of drugs being seized from McLaughlin. McLaughlin was arrested and transported to the Craig Jail where he was remanded without bail for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance II and Misconduct Involving a Weapon V.

On 8/26/18, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island contacted William Kaufman Jr, age 55 of Craig, while he was sport fishing in the marine waters near Craig. Kaufman had caught and retained three Yellow-eye (non-pelagic) rockfish. Per regulation, retention of non-pelagic rockfish is prohibited in all southeast Alaska outside waters during the month of August. Kaufman was issued a minor offense citation for a total of $170.00.

On 7/26/2018, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on POW issued a citation to Mark Farrar, 64 of California, for failing to display his sport fishing guide decal on his vessel while engaged in a guided trip. The violation has a set bail of $110.00.

On 8/9/2018, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on POW cited Archie Demmert, 58 of Klawock, for retaining commercially caught king salmon greater than 28 inches. The retention of King salmon greater than 28 inches is prohibited per Emergency Order. Demmert was given a court date in the District Court in Klawock.
