On 01/03/18 at approximately 1933 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales received a report of a domestic violence assault in Thorne Bay. Investigation revealed June Rinehart, age 57 of Ketchikan, assaulted a household member causing minor injury. Rinehart was arrested on one (1) count Assault 4th Degree-Domestic Violence, and was remanded to the Craig Jail.

UPDATE: Investigation into the reported domestic violence assault revealed ongoing sexual abuse of a minor by Carter beginning on/about 12/1/12 continuing through 12/14/17. On 01/04/18, a Grand Jury indicted Walter Brian Carter on four (4) counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor 1st Degree A.S. 11.41.434(a)(2). Carter is currently in custody at the Craig Jail Facility.
On December 15, 2017 at approximately 10:22 PM, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales we’re advised of a domestic violence assault in Coffman Cove. Investigation revealed Walter Brian Carter, age 38 of Coffman Cove, assaulted a family member causing injury. An arrest warrant was issued for Carter for one (1) count Assault 4th Degree Domestic Violence. On December 16, 2017 at approximately 12:44 PM, Carter was located in South Thorne Bay and was arrested on the warrant. Carter was remanded to the Craig Jail. Bail was set at $10,000.

On 1/4/2018 at 1515 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a Ford pickup near Klawock for an equipment violation. Investigation revealed the driver, Bryan Carlson, 52 years old of Thorne Bay was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and had an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. Carlson was arrested and remanded to the Craig Jail where he was subsequently released to a sober adult.

On January 5, 2018 at about 4:30 PM, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales Island located 27 year old Curtis Looper in Naukati. Looper had an outstanding warrant and was arrested. Looper was transported to Craig Police Department where he was remanded.

On January 5, 2018 at about 4:30PM, the Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales Island contacted 35 year old Tina Williams in Naukati. Williams was contacted in reference to two unlawfully abandoned vehicles on Prince of Wales island she had failed to remove since July 2017. Williams was issued two misdemeanor citations in reference to the vehicles.
