There I was this weekend browsing Facebook groups for news stories and I ran into an awesome group that I had no idea about!
POW Rocks
I don't know how I missed it, since I thought I was part of every POW related FB group but I stumbled across this awesome island wide scavenger hunt. In which residents paint designs on rocks and then hide them around the island in different places!

We were inspired by the Fidalgo Island Rocks Facebook Page (check out their Facebook page) and all of the fun that they are having, that we decided to start our own painted rock community here on Prince of Wales Island.(Photos courtesy of the POW Rocks FB Group)
The idea is to decorate rocks or other found items in nature and hide them in various locations to brighten someone’s day. You can use paint, sharpies, or whatever- as long as it has a coat of sealer over it to help preserve the art. On the back of your masterpiece write in Sharpie- Post a picture to the Facebook Page “POW Island ROCKS”. You can also write- Keep or Re-Hide Me.
This is meant to be fun for everyone of all ages and abilities and to spread JOY and LOVE. Get creative and get outside :)
Remember to be respectful of private property and businesses.
Thank You Fidalgo Island Rocks for the inspiration and sharing all your fun art. I hope our community will have just as much fun.
Check out the [Facebook group] and join in the adventure!
Thank you everyone who thought of this and created this project!
