On 11/22/16 at approximately 0800 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales Island received a report of a single vehicle collision near mile 16 of the Klawock-Hollis Hwy. Investigation revealed that Torrin Latimer, age 19 of Craig, had been travelling eastbound on the Klawock-Hollis Hwy near mile 16 when he lost control of his vehicle in an icy section of roadway. The 1998 Ford Explorer that Latimer was operating struck the guardrail, crossed the oncoming lane and entered the ditch. The vehicle sustained disabling damage from the collision. Damages to the vehicle were estimated at $4,000.00. Latimer did not sustain any injuries in the incident.

On 11/26/2016 at about 1204 hours, Prince of Wales State Troopers responded to a reported motor vehicle collision (MVC) near 12 mile Hollis Highway. Investigation determined a 16 year old was driving a 1996 Ford Ranger west on Hollis Highway and lost control due to icy road conditions. The vehicle entered the ditch and rolled several times. The driver was reported to have been ejected. Both the driver, and his 17 year old passenger sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Klawock Clinic and later released to their parents. The driver was issued a citation for driving in violation of provisional license.
