On 08-15-2016 at approximately 2014 hours the United States Coast Guard (USCG) reported an Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) beacon from aircraft number N6072D. The location of the beacon was determined to be coming from the Clover Lake area approximately 22 miles west of Ketchikan on Prince of Wales Island. The sole occupant and pilot of a privately owned 1956 Piper Pacer was located alive by a responding USCG helicopter from Sitka. Thomas J. McIntire, age 30 of Ketchikan received minor injuries during a late aborted take-off attempt when the aircraft struck the rocky shoreline causing the onboard ELT to activate. McIntire declined medical assistance and was transported back to Ketchikan via USCG. The aircraft suffered damage to the floats and propeller. The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified

On 8/17/16, Alaska Wildlife Troopers Prince of Wales Post charged Andrew Boyak Jr. (46YOA) of Wyoming for failing to record a Yellow-eye Rockfish on his nonresident license as required. He was issued a citation with bail set at $110 with an optional appearance in the Prince of Wales District Court.
