On 3/23/16 at approximately 0750 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales Island received a report of a single vehicle collision near mile 10.5 of the Klawock-Hollis Hwy. Investigation revealed that Pauline Hennefer, age 74 of Craig, had been traveling westbound on the Klawock-Hollis Hwy near mile 10.5 when she lost control of her 2004 Jeep Liberty. Hennefer’s vehicle left the roadway, rolled over, and came to rest in the ditch. Damages to the vehicle were estimated at $6,000.00. Hennefer was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. She was transported to the local clinic by EMS to be evaluated for possible injuries.

On March 23, 2016, Alaska State Troopers contacted 30 year old George Peratrovich of Hydaburg and took him into custody on an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Peratrovich was transported to the Craig Police Department Jail, where he was held without bail on the original charge of violating the conditions of his probation.

On March 24, 2016, Alaska State Troopers contacted 26 year old, Esther Peratrovich of Hydaburg and took her into custody on an outstanding Craig Police Department warrant for her arrest. Peratrovich was transported to the Craig Police Department Jail where she was booked on the $5,000.00 warrant for failing to complete court ordered community work service from a previous conviction.

On 3/24/16, at 0250 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales Island investigated a death in Hydaburg. Harris Natkong Jr., 85, of Hydaburg had died at home of natural causes. The state medical examiner released his remains to his next of kin, who had been present for his death.

On 3/16/16, Ronald Umland,56, of Klawock was convicted after a minor offense trial at the Craig court of one count of no buoy markings on a shrimp pot and two counts of making a false statement on a sport fishing license. Umland was fined $730.00 for these offenses.
